BIOPLASTIC VS DEGRADABLE PLASTIC
All plastic is degradable, even traditional plastic, however, just because it can be broken down into tiny fragments or powder does not mean the materials will ever return to nature and thus never really go away.
Bioplastics are plastics made from renewable organic materials such as corn starch, soybeans and often made from polylactic acid (PLA). The most organic of blends can break down in a matter of weeks into water, carbon dioxide and compost by microorganisms under the right conditions and does so without leaching toxic chemicals back into the soil and water table.
